accumulated snowfall on Village streets exceeds a depth of 2", we require that all vehicles be removed from on-street parking places. This temporary relocation and parking ban is then in effect until our snow removal operations are completed. Residents of Mokena should be aware that it is a vehicle owner's responsibility to have their vehicles removed from on-street parking places when fallen snow reaches a depth of two inches. Therefore, we encourage residents to monitor evening weather forecasts during snowfall seasons so that they can decrease the possibility that their vehicles will impede snow removal operations.
We would also ask that Residents refrain from depositing blown, plowed or shoveled snow from driveways and sidewalks into the street, since this can jeopardize the safety of motorists, and also lessens the effectiveness of our snow plowing efforts.
Although the majority of our residents voluntarily comply with the snow removal strategy, enforcement can and/or will occur as necessary to safeguard the welfare of those who travel our streets. Residents who choose to disregard snow removal regulations may be subject to fines of up to $750.
Snow removal procedures have been implemented to ensure a safe and expedient flow of traffic, and to increase the efficiency of the Village's Snow Removal Crews. Cooperation with our strategy will help to make our streets safer for EVERYONE.
Anyone having questions or comments regarding the snow removal plan should feel free to contact the Village Hall at (708) 479-3900 during regular business hours.
