Joseph W. Werner, born July 6, 1957, Chicago / Graduate Marist High School 1975 / 1984 - Founded Werner-Nugent Plumbing, Inc. (23 yrs.+)/ An active volunteer in the community since moving to Mokena in 1994 / 1996 - Construction Captain in the Imagination Station Playground project at MES / 1996 - Appointed to the Mokena Environmental Commission / 1998 - Appointed Chairman of the Mokena Environmental Commission. The Village received a 2nd Place Governors' Hometown award for the Mokena Clean-Up day program that year. / 1999 - Elected Village Trustee (4 year term) / 2000 - President of the Mokena Chamber of Commerce / 2009 - Elected Village President (Mayor) to his second 4 year term / Mayor Werner has supported conservative long-range financial planning, transportation improvements, the Lake Water project, Waste Water Treatment Plant Expansion and served as Co-Chair of the Comprehensive Plan Commission. Re - elected 2009 -- "I believe I have demonstrated the leadership and communicatiion skills to build a consensus on the Board so that we can work together for all of Mokena."
