Overview
Take advantage of the beautiful summer weather and enjoy a stroll through Downtown Mokena. The Village’s renovation and rehabilitation efforts for the Downtown are complete. Residents have been able to enjoy the fully improved Downtown with new:
  • Sidewalks
  • Landscaping
  • Decorative amenities
  • Three new public plazas
  • Street pavement

Development Goals
It is a goal of the Village that Downtown Mokena will once again become an area that serves residents' needs and provides a comfortable, attractive setting for community events.

The Economic Development Coordinator is charged with developing and implementing strategies to keep existing businesses Downtown while attracting new investment to the area.  Some areas that have been reviewed to assist in achieving this goal include: 
  • Tax Increment Finance District
  • Joint Village-Metra parking study
  • Local property owners needs
