Young Trees Require Patience
Posted on Monday May 20, 2019
The past five months have brought us the complete spectrum of weather.

The Chicagoland area endured a brutal polar vortex this winter, followed by a seemingly endless assault of cool, wet weather this spring.  Throw in some severe weather last week and a day or two in the next seven days with temperatures expected to be over 80 degrees, and it’s little wonder if we’re all left feeling a little dazed and confused.

Some of our young parkway trees may feel the same way.

If you have a parkway tree that has not yet begun to leaf out, we encourage you to give it a little more time, as some species may not leaf out until later this month.  If you feel a parkway tree near your home has died, we encourage you to call the Mokena Village Hall at (708) 479-3900 and provide your name, address, and phone number for follow-up by staff.
